Welcome to the Members Evenings page. At Vague Theatre we hope to get involved in many aspects of theatre and are trying to develop a programme of members evenings for all our members to enjoy and not just those who wish to perform or work backstage. So even if you are not a fan of acting or operating lights, have a look at the events below and pop along and have a laugh.
Our members evenings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. All evenings start at 7:30pm and are held in The Bryce Institute, Burneside (unless otherwise stated)
We hope there is something for everyone in our annual programme and as well as these events we often arrange visits to local theatre productions and informal dinners and lunches.
If you are not yet a member but want to see if it's for you, you are more than welcome to come along to a members evening free of charge and give it a go. Just fill in the form on our Get Involved page and we'll get back to you ASAP.

20th May | Play Reading (sit down) Title - Murderer by Antony Shaffer Shaffer's most notable work is the play Sleuth (1970), which he adapted for the film version of the same name, and starred Sir Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. He received Edgar Awards from the Mystery Writers of America for both versions: for Best Play in 1971, and Best Screenplay in 1973. His other major screenplays include the Hitchcock thriller Frenzy1972) and the British cult thriller The Wicker Man (1973) with whose director Robin Hardy Shaffer had previously set up a television production company in the United States called 'Hardy, Shaffer & Associates'. A major theme in Shaffer's work is the playing of psychological games between people. His two best known works - Sleuth and The Wicker Man - both revolve around this idea. Murderer is an unusual play with the opening scene lasting around 30 minutes without a single word being spoken. In it we meet Norman, a man obsessed with the notoriety associated with murderers. Normans twisted sense of humour has both his relations and the audiences guessing until the last page! Sit down readings are a great way to read a play if you don't fancy an energetic night! Even if you are not a reader they are a great way to hear a variety of plays and laugh at the readers attempting to do a good job |
